Senior IP counsel

Responsibilities：

1.Lead and help manage the Company’s IP team in China.

2.Serve as a strategic partner to and IP thought leader for the Company’s senior leaders in discovery, research, manufacturing and development.

3.Provide IP counseling to R&D, business development, commercial, manufacturing, and other business teams on patent, regulatory data exclusivity, trademark, and other intellectual property issues.

4.Manage the IP team in conducting patent and prior art search, competitive landscape analysis, patentability and freedom to operate analysis.

5.Manage the IP team in identifying patentable inventions, draft patent applications, and work together with outside counsel on patent filing and prosecution matters.

6.Build and maintain a strong intellectual property portfolio to support the Company’s R&D, manufacturing and commercialization efforts.

7.Support corporate development, business development and research collaborations, including due diligence assessments, advise on contract drafting and negotiation, and alliance management.

8.Monitor patent trends and case law developments in China, APAC and major markets, and adjust IP strategies accordingly; and advocate positions important to BeiGene in matters concerning IP government and regulatory policy.

9.Review draft publications and presentations.

10.Provide litigation support, including validity and non-infringement analysis.

11.Manage trademark matters.

Skills and Qualifications:

1.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint

2.Admitted to the China bar.

3.Advanced degree in biological sciences preferred.

4.Supervisory experience, including leading and managing IP attorneys and professionals, required.

5.Deep understanding of global pharmaceutical patent law, regulatory data protection, regulations and best practices in China, APAC, and other major markets.

6.Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and strong understanding of drug discovery, development, manufacturing and commercialization of biologics, small molecule and other major markets.

7.Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability and confidence to represent BeiGene in the area of patent law.

8.In-depth knowledge and experience in counseling drug discovery and development and commercial launch. Proven track record of patent portfolio development.

9.Experience and skill at drafting patent applications and responses to patent office actions.

10.Team-oriented and able to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence others without direct line reporting authority.

11.A demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism.

12.Highly effective communication skills (both verbal and written).

13.Fluent English required.

14.Ability to understand complicated laws and regulations and translate them into practical, business-oriented legal counsel.

15.Detail-oriented.

16.Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using excellent discretion and judgment.

17.Self-motivated, able to work independently and be reliable and responsive.

18.Ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities as needed.

Associate IP Counsel

Responsibilities：

Skills and Qualifications：

1.Experience and skill at drafting patent applications and responses to patent office actions;

2.Excellent drafting and verbal and written communication skills;

3.Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using excellent discretion and judgment;

4.Fluent English

5.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint;

6.Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred;

7.Prior experience managing projects preferred;

8.Team-oriented and able to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence others without direct line reporting authority;

9.A demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism;

10.Detail-oriented;

11.Self-motivated, able to work independently and be reliable and responsive;

12.Ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities as needed.

Education Required：

1.Advanced degree in chemistry or biological sciences; 

2.At least 3 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical patents.

Travel：Up to 10%

Location：Beijing, China

Patent Liaison

Responsibilities：

You will be trained by experienced in-house patent attorneys to:

1.Provide IP counseling to R&D, business development, commercial, and other business teams on patent and other intellectual property issues;

2.Conduct patent and prior art search, competitive landscape analysis, patentability and freedom to operate analysis;

3.Identify patentable inventions, draft patent applications, and work together with outside counsel on patent filing and prosecution matters;

4.Build and maintain a strong intellectual property portfolio to support the Company’s R&D and commercialization efforts;

5.Support business development and research collaborations, including due diligence assessments;

6.Review draft publications and presentations.

Skills and Qualifications:

1.Excellent drafting and verbal and written communication skills.

2.Experience and skill at drafting scientific articles.

3.Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using excellent  discretion and judgment.

4.Fluent English

5.Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint

6.Admitted to China patent bar preferred.

7.Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

8.Prior experience managing projects preferred.
